Utah Pro Bono Legal Information, Resources and Assistance

The Utah State Bar encourages Utah attorneys to support civil legal services organizations and provide pro bono representation as part of their professional responsibility to provide legal services to those unable to pay. A Utah lawyer should aspire to render at least 50 hours of pro bono publico legal services per year.

Utah Pro Bono Summary: Utah Legal Services (ULS) provide legal help to those who qualify in non-criminal cases. Generally, ULS answer questions, give advice, prepare legal documents, and represent clients in court and before administrative agencies. ULS currently handles the following types of cases:

  • Family Problems
  • Public Assistance
  • Health Benefits
  • Housing
  • Consumer
  • Employment
  • Seniors
  • Migrant Farmworkers
  • Native Americans

Clients can call ULS between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Pro bono young lawyer of the year is presented to overall contribution to the pro bono project by young attorneys.

The Pro Bono Senior Attorney of the Year Award is presented to dedicated senior attorneys.
