Wisconsin Pro Bono Legal Information, Resources and Assistance

Wisconsin Pro Bono General Overview: There are a number of pro bono organizations. However, there are not any that are available through the state bar. To qualify for assistance, you must meet their income and eligibility guidelines.

Legal Action of Wisconsin: provides free civil legal services to low-income people and senior citizens in the areas of housing, public benefits, family law, jobs and economic development and education. Eligibility requirements

State Bar Modest Means Program: assists people whose income is too high to qualify for free legal services, but too low to pay a lawyer’s standard rate. Once a completed application and documentation are received, the organization will try to match the client with an attorney who has agreed to consider certain cases at a reduced rate. This program is not free and is designed for people who have some ability to pay for a lawyer.
