Wyoming Pro Bono Legal Information, Resources and Assistance

Wyoming Pro Bono General Overview: Through the State Bar there is a Pro Bono Volunteer Lawyers program and the Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (PBVLP).

Pro Bono Volunteer Lawyers Program (PBVLP): matches a client in need with an attorney who is willing to help at no cost. The volunteer lawyer will offer advice, legal services and representation to people who qualify. Qualification for the program is based on need and the availability of a volunteer attorney to help you. The lawyers in this program are only able to help with limited civil matters. Our program is not able to assist with criminal charges.

Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault: facilitates matching potential clients with volunteer lawyers. It may be several months before an attorney is available to help a client. In order to apply contact the Wyoming State Bar PBVLP Coordinator to see if there are attorneys available to assist in clientís situation. If there are, an application will be sent to the client (or it may be done online). Do not submit an application until you have contacted the program coordinator. After the completed application is received, the client will be contacted by the program coordinator. If the client qualifies for the program, a volunteer attorney will be assigned to the client.

For clients that donít qualify for PBVLP try some of these other organizations: University of Wyoming Legal Clinics, Wyoming Attorney General's Office - Consumer Affairs, and Department of Family Services - Child Protective Services.
